Seattle

Tracy and the boys left on Wednesday which meant that we had one day until we headed down to Seattle for the weekend. Thursday was a busy day of washing clothes and herding the kids around for school and swim lessons and then that evening we left for Seattle. Andy had a continuing education course and was staying right on the waterfront so the kids and I took advantage of the situation and went down with him. While he worked all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday we played at museums and explored downtown.

On Friday we dropped Andy off at 7 a.m. and then headed to Top Pot Doughnuts for breakfast. Yes, I took my kids to doughnuts for breakfast. There was little redeeming to this meal but it was tasty! (there was a giant fire truck outside because the firemen were in getting doughnuts so Tate thought that was pretty amazing) Once we were done with breakfast we went to the Seattle Center and the Seattle Children's Museum. Tate, of course, got in every vehicle they had available.

This time Ayden got to drive,

while Tate got gas for the bus.

Then they went shopping.

Here is Tate ringing up Ayden's purchases.
After the early morning (and late night the night before) the kids were very tired so we headed to the hotel for naps.

On Saturday we went to Pike Place Market and the Seattle Aquarium.

Here is a shot of them one year ago at this same spot. Ayden looks so much smaller in this photo!Getting up close and personal with the fish.
I barely got this shot, there was just too many things to see!
Attacked by a giant octopus!
Checking out the jelly fish.
Tate got to touch a sea star, but Ayden wouldn't even attempt it.
That evening after we went out to dinner we went to the arcade and rode the carousel.
At first neither Tate or Ayden would get on a horse, but we finally convinced Tate that it would be fun.
Ayden only rode in the seats.
On Sunday we went on the Duck tour (this is a land and water tour, because you take the vehicle into Lake Union!) and went up in the Space Needle (where I forgot my camera and my phone died, so no pictures)I was very disappointed, but we had a great time exploring the city. I have always loved Seattle, but on the Duck tour we had a group of about 6 people from Oklahoma and they were having such a good time and kept exclaiming how beautiful the city was and how much they loved it here. It really gave me a new appreciation for Seattle!

It was so much fun being a tourist in our own city. I highly recommend it!

Donuts, mmmmm. Liked the kids shoping and gasing up the truck. Looked like fun.

Did you happen to find any hair clips for me at Pikes Place? Glad you enjoyed your "tourist" time as a family. Can't believe they don't like riding a carousel..especially since Ayden likes horses so much.
